Varanasi: In a latest research, a science student from Yemen namely Mohammed Al Sawai, teaming up with the agricultural researchers of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), created a special green chilly powder which will not only enhance the farmers’ income but have many health benefits as well. The team has explored the fact that even green chillies can be converted into powder form.

The farmers’ income can be enhanced as this process allows the chillies to be transformed into powder and even the rotten chillies can now be utilized which were previously nothing more than a waste.

We all know that green chillies add a unique flavour and taste to cuisines but the health benefits of Indian green chillies are still unknown by many of us. Green chillies can benefit one’s health in many ways that most of us are unaware of.

  • Anil Chauhan said that the haemoglobin present in green chillies controls blood loss.
  • It is beneficial for women who suffer from anaemia during pregnancy.
  • The powder is also beneficial for diabetes, asthma and hypertension patients.

What kind of technique is it:

  • Mohammed Al Sawai adopted an innovative way to make green chilly powder.
  • The process includes washing green chillies and cutting them into two halves.
  • The chillies are then kept in a potassium permanganate solution and later, they are stored in room temperature for up to 6 hours.
  • Eventually, the chillies are grinded to make powder.
