Mohammed Shami blames third party for domestic row

New Delhi: Mohammed Shami is getting into more and more trouble following the attempt to murder rape, assault and criminal intimidation allegations leveled by his wife Hasin Jahan.

After being removed from the central contract list of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the right-arm pacer is also doubtful for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018). BCCI, however, has not issued any official statement regarding his removal from the central contract.

Shami was retained through right to match card (RTM) by Delhi Daredevils (DD) for Rs 3 crore in the IPL 2018 auction. But his chances now depend on an internal probe launched by BCCI to ascertain the charges against him.

Speaking over his inclusion in the side, DD Chief Executive Hemant Dua said, "We are waiting for a direction from BCCI on him."

"We approached the BCCI on this. It's a tri-partite agreement between the player, the franchise and the BCCI."

"BCCI is doing some internal checks and they said they would get back to us soon. We are waiting for their feedback."

BCCI Committee of Administrators chairman Vinod Rai termed it as a 'Catch 22' situation for the board, saying that some people may find it a personal issue and it should not affect his professional career, but some would argue that these are unsavoury allegations and the board should not let him play until he emerges innocent.

Shami, who used to be among headlines for being trolled for posting photographs with his wife on social platforms, is in the news for allegedly being sexually involved with other women. The charges were leveled against him by none other than his wife with some screenshots of his vulgar chats with unidentified girls.

Mohammed Shami marked his international debut in Tests in 2013 against West Indies and has so far played 30 Test matches. He has also appeared in 50 One Day Internationals (ODIs), but now his career seems to be in a dilemma.

He will soon be sent a notice under Section 41A of CrPC which would ask him to be present before the investigators. Apart from Shami, his family members including mother, sister, brother and brother's wife have also been booked. His wife Hasin Jahan had lodged the police complaint late on Thursday.
