Reasons why India ranks below Pakistan in World Happiness index!

New Delhi: India has been ranked below most of its neighbouring countries, including Pakistan, in the World Happiness Index 2018 prepared by the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Solutions Network's (SDSN).

India has been ranked at 133rd position which is way higher than Pakistan (75th), Bhutan (97th), Nepal (101st) and even Bangladesh (115th) and Sri Lanka (116th).

Under the current NDA government, India has seen a significant decline in the World Happiness Index as it ranked at 122nd position in 2017 and 118th in 2016.

SDSN prepared the World Happiness report every year after doing research on 156 countries. It considers GDP per capita, social support, social freedom, absence of corruption, healthy life expectancy and generosity while preparing the report.

Obviously, India lacks behind in the above mentioned fields which is our country has been ranked behind most of our neighbouring countries in the table led by Finland.

Myanmar which is facing ethnic violence between the majority Buddhists and the minority Rohingya Muslims has still managed to rank at 130th position still three places ahead of India. Only war-ravaged Afghanistan was ranked below India at the 145th position.

Finland displaced Norway to become the world's happiest country. It was ranked at the fifth position last year. Norway has dropped to the second spot.

The United States, which was at 14th position in 2017, has gone down to 18th place this year, while the United Kingdom was ranked at 20th position.
