Nidahas Trophy: Sri Lanka wins toss; India to bat

Colombo: In the opening match of the Nidahas Trophy, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first at the R Premadasa Stadium here on Tuesday.

The Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni-less team India will be led by Rohit Sharma, while Dinesh Chandimal-led Sri Lankan team would be hoping to break the jinx in the series opener, as they have lost seven consecutive matches against their neighbouring country.

Rishabh Pant has been awarded a place in the Indian playing XI owing to his recent form in the domestic circuit. All-rounder Vijay Shankar will be making his debut in the match.

Sri Lanka: Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal (wk/c), Kusal Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera, Jeevan Mendis, Akila Dananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep.

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat and Yuzvendra Chahal.
