MS Dhoni receives Padma Bhushan in Indian Army uniform

New Delhi: Marching like an Indian Army personnel, former Indian Cricket team skipper and Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday received country's third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Kovind presented Padma Awards to 43 persons.

Padma Bhushan was presented to five people-- Dhoni, billiards champion Pankaj Advani, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin (posthumously), Indian artist Laxman Pai and folk singer Sharda Sinha while Padma Shri was awarded to 38 people.

Notably, the Indian Territorial Army had given the honorary rank of Lt. Colonel to Dhoni on November 1, 2011.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Ministers.

It is worth mentioning here that on the same day Dhoni led Indian team lifted the 2011 World Cup trophy after 28 years.
