New Delhi: The festival of Maha Shivratri 2022 is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country every year. This festival is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of Falgun month. This year Maha Shivratri is being celebrated on 01 March. This festival has great importance in Hinduism. It is believed that the marriage of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati took place on this day.

On this day, devotees worship Lord Shiva and observe a fast. By doing fast on this day, Lord Shiva fulfills all the wishes. You can also have light sattvik food during the fast.

Sabudana Khichdi:

With sabudana you can enjoy dishes like khichdi, kheer, tikki and chaat etc. These are very healthy and tasty dishes. Potato:

People observing the fast on the occasion of Maha Shivratri can enjoy various dishes made of potatoes. Potatoes are used in different ways. While preparing potato dishes for fasting, keep in mind that you do not use garlic, onion or turmeric. Use only rock salt for dishes. You can make dishes like aloo tikki, aloo pakora, aloo chaat, aloo curry and aloo halwa etc. from potatoes.

Buckwheat ( Kuttoo Ataa):

Buckwheat flour is popularly eaten during fasting. Kuttu is not only used for vrat dishes but it is also a healthy option. It is rich in fiber, antioxidants, protein and is gluten free. This flour also helps in controlling blood pressure and diabetes. It also contains minerals like zinc, copper, iron, phosphorous etc. You can also eat buckwheat puris and rotis along with potato curry.
