Bad news for those who have late dinner can get you cancer. Study Says that late night dinner causes cancer, Long working hours and commuting hours might be delaying your dinner time but you should know that it’s harming you in a big way. As per a study by Barcelona Institute for Global Health, you increase your risk of having cancer by 25% if you are not leaving at least a two-hour gap between eating and sleeping.

Before you go to sleep, your metabolism slows down but eating again will speed up again. This will disturb the hormones that affect the body’s internal clock which later increases the risk of both breast cancer and prostate cancer as they are linked to hormonal cues.

The researchers looked at 872 males (621 with prostate cancer) and 1,321 females (1,205 with breast cancer) who had never worked a night shift.

When they were asked about their sleeping and eating patterns, the researchers found that those who went to sleep two or more hours after eating reduced their cancer risk by 20 percent, but when they went to bed within two hours of eating, their risk increased by 25 percent.

Lead author Dr. Maolis Kogevinas said: “Our study concludes that adherence to daily eating patterns is associated with a lower risk of cancer. These findings stress the importance of evaluating timing in studies on diet and cancer.

If you still think, you can’t avoid eating late, it is advised you prepare your meal in advance. And make sure you have your dinner as soon as you reach home. Also, avoid midnight snacking as the researchers found that midnight snackers are equally at risk even if they keep check on their sleeping and eating patterns.

So, eat on time, sleep on time and be healthy.
