IPL Auction 2018: Team-wise list of players sold on Day 1

Mumbai: The first day of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auction ended on Saturday evening. All the eight franchises were seen bidding high for the big players as well as some emerging talents who exhibited their extraordinary skills in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy.

Where England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who played for Rising Pune Supergiant (now defunct) in the last season of the cash rich league, was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a whopping Rs 12.50 crore, some young boys like Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, Jofra Archer and a few more getting a fair deal in the IPL auction.

Manish Pandey and Lokesh Rahul also bagged great deals from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab, respectively, as both of them were sold for Rs 11 crore each.

As per the norms of IPL auction, a franchise can buy a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players. The maximum number of overseas players a team can have is eight.

At the end of IPL auction day 1, all the teams look equally balanced on paper with the franchise keeping their faith in some of their old assets.

Some shockers arrived when players like Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla Joe Root, Lasith Malinga and Martin Guptill went unsold in the auction.

As many as 578 players have been finalised by the IPL Governing Council to go to auction, who will go under the hammer in the two-day event started on January 27.
