Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav have greeted the citizens of state on the occasion of Hindu festival Ram Navami.

The Chief Minister in his message said that Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram all through his life, followed a principled life and gave a message of dutifulness and sacrifice, which is still relevant today.

About Ram Navami:

  • Ram Navami is birth of Lord Rama who was considered as the seventh incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu.
  • This auspicious occasion is celebrated by Hindus all over the world with lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
  • On this day, the devotees of Lord Ram observe rigorous fast to attainment of salvation, perform Maha Puja’s and also chant various mantras to please Lord Rama and seek his divine blessings.
  • This festival day usually falls in the Shukla Paksha, the ninth day of Chaitra month according to the Hindu calendar.
  • Rama Navami is also known as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, which usually marks the end of Chaitra Navarati festival.
