Two Golf club caddies taken into custody in rape case

Lucknow: Two caddies of the Lucknow Golf Club were arrested by the police in connection with the horrific rape and murder of a class 12 student in Lucknow.

The caddies, Michael and Naseer, were taken into custody on Tuesday night. Gopal Singh Yadav, station officer of Jankipuram police station here, said that the arrests were made on a tip off a rickshaw-puller Sadguru, who is already in police custody for taking away the girl’s blazer. Her mobile phone was also recovered from Sadguru’s house.

What Sadguru said:

· They used to frequently visit the area to smoke drugs in the thickets.

· Naseer and Michael were taking smack when he went there to attend nature’s call.

· The body of the girl was at a stone’s throw from them.

What Michael and Naseer said:

· They said that the statement by Sadguru was wrong.

· Sadguru was already at the spot when they visited the thickets.

· They stopped Sadguru from taking the blazer but he still did.

Arrests made by police:

• One Mukesh was arrested by the police for taking the mobile phone of the deceased to Sadguru’s house.
• Mukesh works in a gutkha company in Qaiserbagh area of Lucknow.
• Sadguru’s friends Ram Naresh and Ramjeet have also been arrested. Their DNA samples have been collected.
