New Delhi: Supreme Court has refused to give an early start to the hearing of Ayodhya Ram Mandir dispute. The apex court on Friday said that it is already overloaded with many pending cases and thus, could not conduct an early hearing on the Mandir-masjid issue.

The plea regarding the matter was submitted by Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajya Sabha member Subramanium Swamy.

Swamy had appealed to the court stating that their have been multiple attempts for sorting out the dispute though talks. "We also want that both Mandir and Masjid should be built but the latter one should be constructed on the othern side of the 'Sarayu' river. I, therefore, request the SC to hear the matter on priority."

It could be recalled that the SC had earlier suggested sorting out the issue through agreement betwen both communities. The SC had said that it was ready to mediate but being the religious matter it should be sorted out through settlement out of the court.

Anuj George Chaudhary, advocate representing Sunni Waqf Board in the the case said, "No matter regarding the out of the court settlement of the dispute was taken up in the SC today."
