Sidhu’s charges stir BJP, party offers High Commissioner post

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party was mulling to offer the High Commissioner post to Navjot Singh Sidhu hours after he made his first public comment for resigning from the Rajya Sabha membership.

Cricketer turned politician Sidhu on Monday had accused BJP of asking him to stay away from Punjab and cited it as the reason of his resignation from Rajya Sabha.

Sidhu has been asked to become High Commissioner by the BJP, said sources,

Sidhu’s strong words stir BJP-

• Punjab BJP director Vijay Sampla has asked party’s leadership to do something after which Sidhu change his plans of leaving the party.
• PM Narendra Modi and other senior leaders also discussed about the same.

As per sources, Sidhu could be made High Commissioner of Canada or Britain.

What Navjot Singh Sidhu had alleged?

• I resigned from the Rajya Sabha because I was told to not turn towards Punjab and stay away from Punjab.
• Why should I stay away from Punjab and on whose wishes?
• How could I ignore my roots and betray my homeland?
• Should I stay away from Punjab just to cater to personal interests of some people?
• This was for the third or fourth time when I was being told to stay away from Punjab.

Sidhu, however, maintained silence when asked if he has any plans of joining Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
