Haridwar: In a renewed attack on Sai Baba, the Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth Swami Swaroopanand Sarawati has said Sai Baba worship invites calamity like drought.

Shanakaracharya, who had earlier launched a gauntlet against the Shirdi deity, said Sai Baba was a beggar and worshipping the ‘inauspicious’ has resulted into drought in Maharashtra. Shankaracharya in 2014 had disapproved the worship of Sai Baba in 2014 asking Hindus to removes his photographs and idols from temples.

The statement may lead to a controversy as there are millions of Sai followers across the country and even abroad
