New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday evening returned to Delhi after attending the SAARC summit in the Pakistani capital. It may be mentioned that the Union Home Minister did not attend lunch at the conference after his speech was blacked out.

According to official sources, Rajnath had lunch in his hotel room after returning from the meet. Subsequently, he flew back to the national capital.

It was the 7th SAARC Home Ministers’ conference.

It may be mentioned that the the Pakistani media organisations, excluding a state-owned Pakistani news channel, were not allowed to cover Rajnath’s speech at the conference.

Indian officials, however, said the reports regarding blackout of Rajnath’s speech were fabricated.

Earlier, the Union Home Minister had strongly condemned Pakistan for the projection of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani as a martyr.

Addressing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Home Ministers meet, Rajnath said-

  • There should be strongest of action not only against terrorists but also against organisations, individuals and nations who support terrorism.
  • There is no good or bad terrorism as terrorism is terrorism.
  • There should be no glorification or eulogising of terrorists as martyrs.

Burhan was killed by Indian Army in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir.
