Priyanka Gandhi to begin campaign for UP Polls from Rae Bareli on Thursday

Amethi: The suspense over Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's much-hyped campaign in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls was finally over to following confirmation from the Congress party sources that she would attend the first election rally in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

Congress sources also informed that Priyanka will accompany her brother and party's Vice President Rahul Gandhi during her rallies in Rae Bareli and Maharajganj.

Priyanka will campaign in Rae Bareli in support of 29-year-old Aditi Singh, daughter of local strongman Akhilesh Singh.

Priyanka, however, has not given her nod to share the stage with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav's wife and MP from Kannauj Dimple Yadav.

Ever since the Congress forged an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in UP polls, there were rumours afloat that Priyanka will be the a part of joint campaign of both the parties along with Dimple Yadav. There was a suspense over it till the party made the announcement.

Interestingly, alliance partners Congress and Samajwadi Party are fighting with each other on several Assembly seats, including two in Raebareli and two in Amethi, where both parties have fielded their respective candidates.

Assembly constituencies under Amethi and Rae Bareli go to polls in the 4th and 5th phase of polling on February 23 and 27 respectively.

In the past, Priyanka always used to campaign in Amethi and Rae Bareli , the parliamentary constituencies of her brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi respectively. This time, however, the political circles were rife with speculation over her extensive campaign for the alliance which was not to be the case.
