Greater Noida: The Uttar Pradesh police has got a major success in arresting the four accused in connection with the brutal Jewar gang-rape and murder case. The arrest was made after an encounter in Greater Noida on Sunday.

Confirming the arrest, Senior Superintendent of Police Love Kumar said that one of the arrested persons suffered a bullet injury on his leg, while two accused managed to escape during the encounter. He stated that the four arrested men were involved in gang rape of four women and murder of their male relative that took place, on May 25 last, off the Yamuna Express.

“One of them has received bullet injury in the leg and has been hospitalized. Three others have been taken for questioning," the SSP said further.

The Noida police also informed that the age group of the gang members that committed the crime was of 27 to 35 years and they were also planning to attempt another similar crime.

What else the police after the arrest in Jewar crime:

  • The two men fled from the spot taking benefit of darkness after which we launched a combing operation.
  • We are hopeful of arresting them soon.
  • They went after the suspects following a tip off about the presence of six criminals near Sabota village underpass.
  • The police also recovered three country-made pistols, along with cartridges, iron rod, and a car.
  • The arrested have been identified as Raju, Rakesh, Jai Singh and Deepak.
