Petrol Theft Racket Busted: On-strike Pump owners resume work

Lucknow: Petrol pump owners in the state capital who had went for a strike against the raids conducted by the Uttar Pradesh STF at several fuel stations in the city have resumed their work at 1200 hours on Tuesday.

Manager of a petrol pump said that pump owners have sought a meeting with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath but they were not given the time. They however, held a meeting with District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma and promised that they will not hold such strikes anymore.

Officials of the Petrol Dealers Association had, earlier, switched their mobile phones off and were not even replying to media queries.

It may be mentioned that there are a total of 150 fuel stations in Lucknow which dispense 3.5 lakh litres of petrol a day and 2.5 lakh litres of diesel per day.

Detectives of the Special Task Force (STF) came in action in the past few days and have found a chip board like device placed inside the petrol dispensing machines at various petrol pumps which restricts the flow of fuel by by 5 to 10 per cent per litre.

A dozen petrol pumps were raided and even sealed in Lucknow to stop petrol theft.
