Ujjain: Amidst pointless political rhetoric on nationalism, a team of Muslim youths is setting perfect example of communal harmony by functioning as 'lifeguards' on the banks of holy river Kshipra during the ongoing Simhastha Mahakumbh in Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh.

These youth of Maulana Mauj Tairak Dal have so far saved at least 50 lives of the Hindu devotees who were drowning in the river while taking holy dip in the river.

Life saving:

Akhlaq Khan, the chairman of ‘Maulana Mauj Tairak Dal’ says that their team is totally dedicated to save the lives of Hindu devotees who had come here to wash their sins in the religious congregation.

How do they work?

  • Every member of the group has been given a whistle which they blow when someone enters deep water.
  • They alert the people to stay inside the barricaded area.
  • They save the people from drowning by jumping in the river.
  • Their team also contributes towards the ‘Clean Simhastha’ initiative, says Akhlaq.
