Lucknow: Launching a fresh attack on the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) government, BSP Supremo Mayawati demanded chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's resignation for rising cases of crime in the state. Her demand came in the wake of attack over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Brijpal Teotia, who was shot at by unknown assailants in Ghaziabad.

What Mayawati said?

  • Law and Order in the state is getting worse
  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has failed completely in curbing the crime graph in the state
  • He has even failed to handle his government
  • He should serve his resignation for the benefit of people in Uttar Pradesh

Teotia had faced eight bullets when his SUV was attacked by unknown assailants on Rawli Road in Ghaziabad on Thursday. He was travelling with five others, including his bodyguards. All of them sustained bullet injuries.

Teotia is undergoing treatment and is still critical.
