Muzaffarnagar: A Lashkar-e-Taiba's local terror module was successfully busted by the Jammu and Kashmir police, who on Monday arrested a UPiite Sandeep Sharma, in the Muzaffarnagar district.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Munir Khan said after the arrest, "The militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba took the help of a non-local Sandeep to loot ATMs in the state.”

He also informed that the group was also indulged in immoral activities in the villages. “He got in touch with Lashkar through one Shakoor of Sopore and when they came to know he can loot ATMs, banks and cash vans then they recruit him," stated the IG.

What else the J&K police told about Sharma:

  • Sandeep Sharma is the son of Ram Sharma, a local UP resident.
  • He was in the same house where dreaded Lashkar militant, Bashir Lashkar was residing.
  • To the locals he used the name Adil and lived with two identities.

Sandeep, who hails from Muzaffarnagar, was missing from his hometown since last three years.

After the arrest of Sandeep, Muzaffarnagar police had inqured his brother about him.

Police revealed that he was also involved in the killing of SHO Feroze Dar and five policemen by LeT on June 17 in Achabal area. Their bodies were also disfigured.

SSP Muzaffarnagar said that Sandeep has no criminal history. Sandeep's brother told police that he was working with contractor Sonu when he went missing from Muzaffarnagar.

A team of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), lead by Noida-posted Deputy SP Brijesh Srivastava, is reaching to his hometown to gather more informaton regarding Sandeep.
