Srinagar: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Monday faced an extremely embarrassing moment as the national flag fell of its post when she tried to hoist it at the state capital’s Independence Day function held at Bakshi Stadium. Moreover, a probe was immediately ordered into the fiasco.

It may be mentioned that Mufti was going to hoist the flag for the first time as J&K CM and failed as it landed on the ground from the post when she pulled the string to hoist it.

Other highlights:

  • Two personnel from the CM’s security detail picked up the flag and held it in their hands till Mufti gave the ceremonial salute.
  • The security staff deployed at the stadium hurriedly hoisted the national tricolour atop the post after the CM left the stage.
  • Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar said a probe was ordered into the matter.
