Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had removed Deepak Singhal more than ten days back, but to everyone's surprise, he still holds the post of Chief Secretary in government records.

The Department of Appointment & Personnel website still has Deepak Singhal's name as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, though he was replaced by Rahul Bhatnagar on September 12.

Sources said that Singhal, who had never been to Chief Minister's liking, was appointed on the important portfolio due to his closeness with Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

But his tenure didn’t last long.

He was removed by the CM along with a couple of ministers including Gayatri Prasad Prajapati who has since been taken back.

It may be recalled that after the tussle in the state’s first family ended, the portfolios of the ministers were returned but Singhal was not brought back to his old position.
