Mokamah (Bihar):Union Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare Department Maneka Gandhi has taken a strong exception to killing of 250 Blue-bulls (Nilgai) in Bihar after the green signal by the environmental ministry led by Prakash Javdekar .

The environmental ministry has given its consent for killing blue-bull in few states due to large scale damage to the crops caused by them.

Sharp shooters of Hyderabad were called by the state to kill the animals.

What Maneka said:

· Killing wildlife is a shameful act.

· Why was the permission granted for killing?

· States are writing letters to the Environmental ministry and they are giving permission to kill.

· The ministry has asked states for the list of animals they want to kill.

What Javdekar said:

“I do not want to comment on this, accepting that the proposals were sent by the respective state governments to kill the animals," he told media persons at Firozabad.
