Lucknow: Taking cognizance of the prevailing violence in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday sought report of the entire matter from the Police Commissioner of the district.

It is worth mentioning that the student protests had turned violent in which the journalists were attacked.

Earlier in the day on Sunday, Varanasi District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police had assured of strict action against the students who were involved in spreading violence. They also claimed that they were in contact with the BHU administration to find out a proper solution to the issues of the students.

Slamming the state government for ordering to baton-charge even on the girl students, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had tweeted a photo with the caption that reads, "BJP version of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in BHU."

Significantly, the students were protesting against molestation of girl students inside the BHU campus, which later turned violent.

The situation was somehow brought under control on Saturday night but by Sunday morning, the violence again erupted.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, however, has blamed outsiders for the entire brawl inside the campus.
