Srinagar: In a new twist terrorist attack in Baramulla the Border Security Force on Monday made it clear, the attack on the BSF camp was handy work of the terrorist in the region.

Denying that it was fresh infiltration, the Inspector General of BSF, Anil Paliwal, said that the terrorist managed to escape after the attack in which one soldier was killed.

One soldier was killed and another injured, in a fierce gun battle, on Sunday night, when heavily armed terrorists attacked the two camps of Rashtriya Rifles and the Border Securitry Force (BSF) in Baramulla district of northern Kashmir.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has called a high level meeting with Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs to review the situation. The spokesperson for the Srinagar-based XV corps Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that the BSF Directorate General KK Sharma has briefed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the incident.

The officials said that Constable Nitin was martyred in the attack while another constable Pulwinder has been injured. Both the soldiers belonged to the 40th battalion of the BSF.

The firing was held from houses located nearby the Jabnazpora camp in Baramulla district near river Jhelum, stated the spokesperson. The official twitter handle of the Udhampur based Northern Command, however, said that the situation in Baramulla is under control. The officials also stated that senior BSF officials have arrived in the area.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Colleagues in Baramulla town are phoning with reports of massive gunfire in their vicinity. Prayers for all in the area."
