Azam Khan's chopper makes emergency landing in Barabanki; no casualties

Lucknow: It was a providential escape for senior Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan when his chopper, he was flying on, developed some snag in Baranbaki, about 30kms away from the state capital.

Pilot had to made an emergency landing in Potato field in Sarant village here.

According to reports reaching here at the state police headquarters, the chopper carrying the minister was coming from eastern UP after election campaigning. No casualties have been reported and a probe has been ordered.

What did Azam say to Newstrack.com?

Talking to Newstrack.com exclusively after the helicopter mishap, Azam Khan said, "I am not well aware of the mechanism and helicopters but it is for sure that the problem was not minor. All of a sudden the blades of helicopter failed and one of the screws got broken and got stuck in the blades."

He added, "I am saved by the God’s grace. It has left those hapless who wanted my misfortune."
