ATS arrests PRO of Dr Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation

Mumbai: A joint team of Maharashtra and the Kerala police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Dr Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) Arsheed Qureshi on Thursday.

According to the police, Qureshi has many cases registered against him in Kochi city of Kerela. Being nabbed from Navi Mumbai of Maharashtra, Qureshi was produced before the Belapur court which granted the Kerala Police his transit remand for the next three days.

Allegations on Zakir Naik:

• Two of the militants involved in Dhaka terror attack were Dr Naik’s followers.
• The controversial Islamic preacher has been accused of promoting terrorism and creating terrorists.
• Central investigation agencies are keeping a close eye on him.
• Dr Naik is currently in Saudi Arabia and has made it clear he will not return to India this year.
