Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday took a potshot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the state government provided land for the construction of AIIMS in Gorakhpur but nothing has been done by the Centre so far.

Ridiculing the PM's development claims in a oppress conference at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in the state capital, he said, "Modi talks about taking the state on progressive path, but I have a question for him. UP government provided the Centre land for setting up of AIIMS in Gorakhpur. When will that hospital will be ready?"

Scoffing at Modi's radio programme, the UP CM said, "The PM is aggressively campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, but he will not be able to befool the people this time as they had enough of your 'Mann Ki Baat'."

Rubbishing the discrimination claims by the opposition parties, Akhilesh said, "Samajwadi government has always been working for development without any discrimination and I am ready to face any debate over it," adding, "I challenge PM Modi to reveal the details where my government has been discriminative."

Reiterating his claim of clear majority to the pre-poll alliance of Samajwadi Party and Congress, he said, "I have said it before and I say it again that this alliance will win over 300 seats in the elections."

Mocking at BJP's claims of supplying less electricity to Gorakhpur, the SP chief said, "Dare to catch any electric wire to prove your point."

Akhilesh Yadav over party workers' unruly behaviour with wife Dimple Yadav

Constantly being blamed for not providing safety to women, CM Akhilesh recalled the incident happened with wife and SP MP from Kannauj Dimple Yadav by saying, "Bhabhi ne apne devaron ko thoda daant diya to kya ho gaya? (What if bhabhi scolded her devars?)"

It may be mentioned that Dimple was offended by the unruly gestures of a few of her party workers during a rally in Allahabad after which she warned them of complaining to their bhaiya (Akhilesh).

Akhilesh also hit out at Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati by saying, "Even she can lodge a complaint with the 1090 Women Power Line if she needs help."

What else Akhilesh Yadav said?

  • The Prime Minister should present a report of his government's works in its 2.5 years at the Centre.
  • We supplied 24-hour electricity in Varanasi.
  • Modi talks about farmers in the state only for political benefits.
  • PM does not need his party's government in the state to waive off the farmers’ loans.
  • We constructed four-lane road from Sonbhadra to Varanasi.
  • We built Agra-Lucknow expressway.
