New Delhi: In its way to honour the ‘Gallantry Award winners’, Air India – flag carrier airline of the country – has decided to upgrade them to business class on its domestic flights.

“The decorated soldiers or ex-servicemen having the economy class boarding pass will be upgraded at the boarding gate, subject to availability of seats in business class,” confirmed a senior official of the airline.

“This is our way to esteem the Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Vir Chakra winners as we are extremely proud of our soldiers,” he added.

Highlights:

  • To avail the service, the soldiers will be required to submit a copy of their identity card at the check-in counter.
  • The facility will be only available to decorated soldiers and not to anyone accompanying them.
