Adityanath thanks Modi for Rameshwaram-Ayodhya train

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching an Express train between Rameshwaram and Ayodhya.

Adityanath expressed the hope that this train from the birth place of Lord Ram to Rameshwaram will act as a religious bridge between north and south India, a state government spokesman said.

He observed that the move by the Union government will also give boost to religious tourism in north and south India. While, on the one hand, this train will aid South Indian pilgrims visiting places like Ayodhya, Kashi and Allahabad, on the other hand, lakhs of people from Uttar Pradesh will get the facility of visiting Ramnathswami temple, Ram Setu and the Jyotirlinga in Rameshwaram, he said.

He added that a project to develop and upgrade the Ayodhya railway station was already underway and that the state government was trying to give final shape to many other projects to develop Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Modi, earlier on Thursday, flagged off the train via video conferencing from Rameshwaram railway station.
