Youth inviting death by coming in between encounter: J&K Police

Srinagar: Following the killing of three civilians in an encounter, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said whoever comes in between any encounter is committing suicide.

"During any encounter army and police take cover of bulletproof vehicle or a house. The mislead youth which is coming in between the encounter is inviting its death," said Director General of Police SP Vaid.

Appealing the youth not to get mislead by the terror elements, he said I want young boys to stay at homes, instead of becoming hindrances in the operations of security forces.

"A fired bullet could hit anybody," said the DGP.

He said some elements are using social media for instigating the youth. "It has been noticed that whenever an encounter starts, the message spreads on Whatsapp and Facebook to reach the encounter site and hurl stones at forces to help terrorists flee from the spot," he added.

He said several such groups have been traced and stern action will be taken against them.

Urging the people to maintain peace, he said the youth must think about those who lost their lives in stone pelting.

It may be recalled here that three civilians were killed while 63 jawans got hurt in clashes in Budgam district of the valley.
