New Delhi: In India, Mucormycosis after Coronaviurus, ie Black Fungus and now White Fungus has increased the concern. There have been some cases of this new fungal infection in Patna, the capital of Bihar.

Many states including Punjab, Rajasthan have already declared Black Fungus an epidemic. In such a case, new cases of white fungus have increased the concerns at the government and medical level. Let us know some important things about it-

What is white fungus?

According to a report, Dr. SN Singh, the head of the Department of Microbiology at PMCH, said that the symptoms of Kovid-19 were seen in all four patients, but every investigation of them was negative. The doctor said that after a thorough examination of the patients, it was found that they had fallen victim to white fungus. However, all the patients are currently very healthy and have been given anti-fungal medicines.

Target Organs:

According to health experts, white fungus is more deadly than black fungus. Experts say that this is because it affects not only the lungs, but also the nails, skin, stomach, kidneys, brain, personal organs and mouth.

Doctors say that the symptoms of this rare fungal disease are similar to the corona virus infection. Since it directly attacks the lungs, the disease can also be detected by HRCT test. People with low immunity are at greater risk of this fungal infection. Apart from this, patients like diabetes or taking steroids for a long time are more likely to suffer from white fungus.

Recently, the Union Health Ministry had appealed to the states and union territories to make black fungus or mucormycosis a notified disease under the Pandemic Diseases Act 1897. Currently, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam and Odisha have notified black fungus under this act.
