It is expected to be extremely hot in India this year. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that there will be a higher than normal heat wave in many areas of South India and North India during April. Apart from this, from April to June, most parts of the country will see higher than normal maximum temperatures. According to the Meteorological Department, instead of the usual 4-8 days, the heat wave is expected to last for about 10-20 days in different parts of the country.

Where will the havoc of the weather be seen?

The areas where the effect of extreme heat will be seen include Gujarat, Maharashtra and North Karnataka. After this, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are included.

Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju talked about the importance of preparation. He appealed to all the stakeholders to be prepared in advance for the weather related challenges that will come with the general elections by the end of April. He said that we will see very bad weather in the coming 2.5 months. Along with this, general elections are also coming in which crores of people will use their votes.

According to IMD, the average rainfall in April is expected to be normal. It is also expected to come out of El Nino by April-June. Rijiju said that this will be very challenging for all of us. Because we are the most populous country in the world and we are facing the scorching summer season, it is very important for the country to be prepared in advance.
