Weather Update: Heavy Snowfall in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh; Rain Alert in Many States

New Delhi: At present, there are many different areas of the country where weather systems are being formed. It is time for a gradual change in the weather. Winter activities have started to subside and there are indications that the pre-monsoon movement has started. A Western Disturbance is persisting over parts of North India. One circulation is over Punjab and Rajasthan.

Also, a trough is passing between Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, a system remains in place over the southern parts of the country. There is also circulation over Northeast India and adjoining Bangladesh. Due to all these reasons, stormy winds can be seen in the country in the coming time. There may be pre-monsoon-like movements in many places together.

Snowfall in Gilgit, Baltistan:

Most of the seasonal movement in the country is happening in the region of North India. Especially on the mountains. Clouds are also visible over the plains of the country. In this sequence, on February 24, from Jammu and Kashmir Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad to Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and many parts of Uttarakhand, clouds will remain continuous, with the possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall at many places.


In plains, clouds will be seen over northern cities of Punjab and all parts of Haryana. Also, if we talk about South Punjab, South Haryana, Delhi and northern areas of Uttar Pradesh will also see clouds. The wind direction has changed in all these areas. All these seasonal movements are happening due to western disturbances. As soon as this disturbance passes, another knock is ready. Temperatures are likely to drop slightly in all these areas.

Due to moisture in the air till Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow as well as Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, the temperature will remain the same. But soon rain activities can be seen in many areas of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, seasonal movements are increasing in the areas of East India. Light to moderate showers are very likely over East Bihar and adjoining north-east Jharkhand and parts of Bengal, parts of Meghalaya and Assam, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. The weather will remain dry over rest of Northeast India.
