Weather Update: Cold wave and rain alert in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain may occur in isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand.

New Delhi: Clouds are quite dense over many parts of central and eastern India from the hilly states of North India. Actually, in these states there is an excess of moisture in the atmosphere. Due to these reasons, cloud activities are being seen in many states. There is a circulation over Haryana. From where a trough is extending up to South-East Madhya Pradesh.

Also, a trough is persisting between Karnataka and Maharashtra. On the other hand, a circulation over West Bay of Bengal is in effect. Its effect is continuously visible on the parts of North India. The effect of these weather systems will remain over different parts of the country in the coming days.

Rain in Kashmir, Himachal:

As predicted, the rain activities have reduced over the hilly areas of North India. The weather remained clear in many cities of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh and people saw sunshine after several days as well as increasing effect of winds. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain may occur in isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on January 11. Clouds can also be seen in Ladakh.


According to the Meteorological Department, the plains in which the weather has started clearing but there are sources of water in the surrounding areas. For example, dense fog can be seen there, like rivers, ponds, greenery fields etc. Now, if we talk about eastern Uttar Pradesh, then in the middle of Prayagraj, Ayodhya to Varanasi, some areas will see clouds in the sky and there will be a possibility of rain. Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Mau, Pratapgarh and adjoining areas will see light clouds and rain.

Like the eastern states, active weather systems will be seen over central India. Moderate to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over western part of Odisha and almost all parts of Chhattisgarh on January 11. Similar rains can also be seen in Vidarbha. Also, similar clouds will be seen over South-East Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rain may occur at many places in Madhya Pradesh.
