New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain Bollywood music composer Vishal Dadlani’s petition seeking prevention from arrest for his allegedly damaging remarks against a Jain monk.

Dadlani was, however, asked by the apex court to approach the concerned high court for quashing the First Information Report (FIR) against him.

The plea was rejected by a bench comprising Justices A K Goel and Gopala Gowda. The bench asked the music director’s counsel Karuna Nandhi to exhaust all legal options before approaching the top court.

It may be recalled that the controversy was raked up in the wake of Dadlani’s remarks against Jain monk Tarun Sagar’s address to Haryana Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on the Assembly premises. “If you voted for these people, YOU (sic) are responsible for this absurd nonsense,” tweeted Dadlani.

After facing a backlash, the music composer had also apologised for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a particular community.
