Unseasonal Rains and Hailstorms Forecasted for Central and East India

While the pre-monsoon season is just starting, central and eastern India might experience unseasonal rain, thundershowers, and even hailstorms in the coming days. These pre-monsoon activities, typically associated with hailstorms and occurring with higher intensity during April and May, may occur now due to the unique weather pattern.

Two troughs - one extending from Odisha to West Bengal and another from Vidarbha to the south - combined with an anticyclone over the Bay of Bengal, are creating favorable conditions for unseasonal weather. This combined influence is expected to bring rain and thundershowers to central and eastern India, along with isolated pockets in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, over the next 3-4 days (from March 17th).

Here's a regional breakdown of the expected weather:

Gangetic West Bengal: Light to moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are possible between March 17th and 20th. There's also a chance of hailstorms on March 17th.

Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh: Expect scattered to fairly widespread light or moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) between March 17th and 21st. Isolated hailstorms are forecast for Vidarbha (March 17th-18th), Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh (March 17th-19th). Odisha and Chhattisgarh might even experience isolated heavy rainfall on March 19th.

Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Isolated light rainfall is possible between March 17th and 21st.

Kerala: Isolated light rainfall is expected between March 17th and 18th.

Northeast India: Light to moderate rain is forecast between March 17th and 22nd.

It's advisable to stay informed about the latest weather updates and follow any advisories issued by local authorities.
