Two from Bihar find place in Forbes India’s prestigious list of "20 people

Making it to the list-poll strategist Prashant Kishor and former President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union, Kanhaiya Kumar have earned a place for themselves among the Forbes world’s top 20 personalities of 2020. The magazine has projected Prashant Kishor as a ‘deciding figure’ in politics over the next decade.

Patna: Frobes India has issued its prestigious list of "20 people to watch in the 2020," where two most influential people from Bihar have also found place.

Making it to the list-poll strategist Prashant Kishor and former President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union, Kanhaiya Kumar have earned a place for themselves among the Forbes world’s top 20 personalities of 2020. The magazine has projected Prashant Kishor as a ‘deciding figure’ in politics over the next decade.

Born in a village near Sasaram in Rohtas district,The Janata Dal (United) national Vice President, Kishor shot to fame in 2009 when he aligned with the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to strategise 2014 general elections for BJP, which catapult the latter as the PM. Prashant is also credited for introducing the social media campaigning concept in Indian politics.

The other name to make it to the Forbes list is the youth face of Indian politics, Kanhaiya, who was born and brought up in a village in Begusarai district of Bihar. Talking at length on Kanhaiya's achievement Forbes India said,

"Kanhaiya Kumar went on to become the face of student politics at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) after he was slapped with sedition charges in 2016. A doctorate from JNU, he fought his first electoral battle during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Begusarai constituency in Bihar for CPI. ThouThough he lost to Giriraj Singh of BJP by 4.2 lakh votes, he managed to poll 22.03 per cent votes. Political analysts say while it is early days for him, Kumar is someone who has been actively voicing his views across the country, questioning the government and its policies. A powerful orator, he is expected to make a mark in Indian politics in the future."

Other prominent Indians who find a place in the list beside Prashant and Kanhaiya, are-Dushyant Chautala (deputy chief minister Haryana), Garima Arora (Chef,the first Indian woman to receive a Michelin star), Mahua Moitra (Lok Sabha member, Trinamool Congress) and the Godrej family (of Adi Godrej).

Prominent leaders around the world who made it to the list are-Jacinda Ardern (Prime minister New Zealand), Gotabaya Rajapaksa (President of Sri Lanka), Mohammed bin Salman (Crown Prince, Saudi Arabia), Boris Johnson (Prime Minister, UK), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (memberof US House of Representatives for New York), Sanna Marin (Prime minister, Finland) and Greta Thunberg (Young environmental activist).
