Truck-bus collision kills 14 pilgrims, injures 3 in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: At least 14 people have lost their lives while three sustained severe injuries in a collision between truck and a minibus near Valthera Patiya village of Ahmedabad. The minibus was carrying 17 pilgrims.

The speeding truck had hit the minibus carrying 17 pilgrims in the late night hours on Friday. Pilgrims were from Sokhda village in Rajkot district, said police.

What else police official said regarding the accident?

  • The victims came from Pavagadh (known for famous Mahakali temple)

    , a pilgrimage site, in Panchmahals district of Gujarat and were on their way back home at Sokhda village in Rajkot district when the accident took place.

  • The driver of the truck escaped with his vehicle. We are looking for the truck.
  • Efforts are on to nab the truck driver, who is absconding after the mishap

The three injured have been rushed to Ahmedabad civil hospital while other 14 died on the spot.
