Top Army commanders will comprehensively review India's national security challenges along the borders with China and Pakistan and ways to enhance the force's combat capability during a five-day conference starting on Monday. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be addressing the conference on October 18. Defense Chief General Anil Chauhan and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari are among those who will also address the army commanders.

Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the government, will also deliver a lecture on “Leveraging Technology for National Security”.

“The top leadership will deliberate on the current/emerging security scenarios besides reviewing the operational preparedness of the Indian Army,” the Army said.

“They will also discuss important issues including review of the ongoing reform process, training matters, human resource management aspects and issues affecting serving personnel and veterans,” it said in a statement.

“The Army Commanders’ Conference, with its wide scope, ensures that the Indian Army remains progressive, forward-looking, adaptive and future-ready,” it said.

The conference acquires added significance in the wake of India’s continuous attempts to modernise its defense forces to keep them fit and ready to face any eventuality.
