New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the situation of Covid-19 in Varanasi district and appealed to people to apply masks and ensure social distance.

PM Modi appeals to maintain social distancing:

The Varanasi Information Department informed that the Prime Minister said in a review meeting through video conference that all people should follow the "Do gajj ki doori, mask hai jaruri" to protect against the corona virus.

PM's meeting on covid situation:

Emphasizing the importance of the vaccination campaign, PM Modi asked the officials to make the administration aware of all those above 45 years of age for vaccination.

Expressing gratitude to the medical staff of the country, the Prime Minister said that in this hour of crisis, they are faithfully performing their duty. He appealed to the people to take full care.

Kashi covid response centre:

PM Modi said that the expansion and modernization of medical infrastructure facilities in Varanasi in the last five-six years has helped in fighting the corona virus and increasing the availability of beds, ICUs and oxygen in the district. He said that the speed with which the Varanasi administration has set up 'Kashi covid Response Center', the speed should be brought in every task.

The Prime Minister said that like the first wave of infection, this time too, to tackle the virus, one must adopt a strategy to "investigate, detect and treat people who have come in contact with the infected". He also stressed on early detection of people coming in contact with infected persons and making the investigation report available at the earliest.

Modi instructed the officers to discharge the responsibilities towards the patients and their families living in seclusion in a sensitive manner. The Prime Minister praised the Varanasi NGOs and said that the way they have worked with the government, it is commendable.

During this, public representatives and officials of Varanasi region informed the Prime Minister about the preparations made for the rescue and treatment of covid-19.
