New Delhi: While Pakistan still denies the Indian Army’s claim of carrying out surgical strikes on its soil, one of the country’s senior police officials has admitted that the strike did take place.

Ghulam Akbar, Special Branch Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Mirpur Range in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), made a statement to an Indian news channel that has made Pakistan rub its eyes in disbelief.

Akbar, in a telephonic conversation with the channel’s investigation editor, confirmed that at least five Pakistani soldiers as well as an unspecified number of militants were gunned down by the Indian Army during the surgical strikes which were aimed at destroying terrorist launch pads.

It may be recalled that Pakistan has been refusing to accept that the strikes ever took place in PoK. They (Pak), however, admitted to have lost two of their soldiers in cross-border firing calling it a ‘ceasefire violation’ by the Indian troops.
