Thus, in January 2023, women cadets will be ready for training for their first batch. The government gave this information by filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the Centre's request to allow women candidates to appear in the National Defense Academy (NDA) entrance examination from next year. The top court said that it does not want women to be deprived of their rights.

The court said, women cannot wait for a year to be included in the NDA. Also, the court directed the Union Public Service Commission to issue notification for the examination on November 14 this year.

Earlier in the hearing, the Supreme Court had sought information from the Center regarding the steps to be taken in future. In the affidavit, the Center stated that a study group has been constituted by the defense services.

The Center said that the group includes Joint Defense Services Training Institute of Armed Forces and a board of officers and experts, who will prepare comprehensive curriculum for women cadets. The officials have been called to give a comprehensive proposal for the training of women cadets in NDA.
