Supreme Court decides to list disputed Ayodhya matter soon

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has decided for an early hearing of the batch of petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ram Temple-Babri Masjid land dispute case in Ayodhya.

The decision regarding this was taken by the division bench of Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud, who on Friday, said, "We will soon take a decision on it.

The dispute was mentioned as the matter for urgent listing and hearing in the apex court by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who had argued that the appeals against the Allahabad High Court order are pending for the last seven years in the apex court and they required urgent hearing.

The BJP leader also mentioned about another petition that had been filed earlier by him seeking enforcement of his right to worship without much hassle at the site.

It could be recalled that the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had in 2010 last gave a ruling into the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh.

The SC had ruled a three-way division of the disputed 2.77 acres area at the site and the land be partitioned equally among three parties, the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and 'Ram Lalla'.
