If you are thinking of traveling by train this festive season, then there is good news for you. Actually, Northern Railway has started 34 special trains from Wednesday in view of the rush of passengers going to their homes during the festival season. This special train (Festival Special Trains) will make 377 trips between October 18 and December 11. Of these, there will be special trains making 351 trips towards the eastern part of the country and 26 trips towards the northern region.

5.5 lakh additional seats will be available in 69 trains.

Special trains will run on these routes:

These special trains run to major destinations across the country like Delhi, New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Patna, Chapra, Jogbani, Saharsa, Jaynagar, Katihar, Guwahati, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Barauni, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Lucknow, Kolkata, Sri Lanka. Mata Vaishno Devi will connect Katra, Amritsar, Saharanpur and Ambala.

Northern Railway has advised potential passengers to get complete information about the special train from its social media handles and inquiry offices. According to Shobhan Chaudhary, General Manager of Northern Railway, additional arrangements have been made due to increased demand during the period. He said, "I believe that additional arrangements will meet the increased demand. We will keep an eye on the situation and if we feel there is a need for more special trains, we will definitely consider that also. For now, I think this is enough.

"Apart from operating special trains, we have decided to open special special windows and operationalize all existing windows to avoid long queues at the booking counter," he said.

Special trains will run on time like other trains

On questions about timely completion of journey of these special trains, he said that they (railway personnel) will follow the scheduled time of arrival and departure as much as possible and there will be no delay due to other important trains. He said, "These additional trains are as important for us as other trains and I would assure all passengers planning to travel by special trains that they will adhere to the timetable." Arrangements will also be made to deal with it.
