This case has happened in Laharighat village of Morigaon, located 80 km from Guwahati, Assam. It was told that Rukmina had a fight with Aminul a few months ago. The fight was due to Aminul's involvement in drug smuggling. After this she left Aminul and went to her father's house. There she was living for several months.

According to the complaint, one day Aminul reached Rukmina's father's house. He had taken the son from there saying that he had to get his Aadhar card made, but he did not return home for three to four days. After this, when Rukmina inquired, it was learned that Aminul had sold his son for money. He complained to the police on 5th August.

Police investigation revealed that Aminul had sold the child to Sajida Begum of Goraimari for Rs 40,000 to fulfill his drug addiction. The police then recovered the child and handed him over to the mother.
