New Delhi: Government has finally found an alternative of pellet guns. It has asked the paramilitary forces to make use of plastic bullets to control the stone-pelting mobs during the terror operations.

Home Ministry said that pellet guns would only be used if other measures fail.

The plastic bullets are hollow-based plastic cylinders which will cause pain but no serious injury.

As per the Home Ministry, thousands of plastic bullets have already been sent to the Kashmir valley. These bullets can be fired from INSAS rifles.

Earlier also plastic bullets were introduced in the valley in 2010. The causalities by pellet guns during Kashmir unrest had left Centre on back foot.

It may be mentioned here that security forces are facing protests from the locals whenever they launch any operation on terrorists. Following the same, terrorists manage to flee with crowd's assistance.

Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat had said that forces are free to take any action against stone-pelting locals who are making anti-militancy operations difficult and helping terrorists to escape.
