Schools set on fire ahead of by-polls in Pulwama district

Pulwama: Two schools were burnt alive in Shopian area of Pulwama district ahead of by-polls for Anantnag parliamentary seat that is scheduled to take place on April 12.

The government high schools were set ablaze by two unidentified person after which the security has cordoned off the area. Police is investigating the matter regarding this incident.

  • The schools that were set on fire were the polling booth centers in Pulwama district.
  • The security has been tightened and the area has been turned into a fortress.

Security forces and hundreds of troopers have been deployed at the colleges and schools where the voting will take place. Following the violence in Kashmir, the internet services have been suspended till April 12.

Examinations that were scheduled to take place have been postponed and the new dates will be notified soon in the state.
