RSS bothers BJP with reservation remark ahead of UP elections

Jaipur: In a spoiler for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the UP Assembly Elections, the Rashtriya Swyamsewak Sangh (RSS) on Friday said that people in Uttar Pradesh need 'opportunities' and not reservation.

Senior RSS ideologue, Manmohan Vaidya made a controversial remark over the reservation by defining it as 'giving a raw deal socially'.

Speaking during the Jaipur Literature Festival here on Friday, Vaidya said, "The time has come when everyone should get equal opportunity," adding that till that happens, "a feeling of disparity or alienation" is a risk.

It may be mentioned that RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's reservation remark had brought BJP on the backfoot during the Bihar election, which it lost.
