Refusing Rs 10 coin may invite sedition case: RBI

New Delhi: Over the controversy surrounding Rs 10 coin, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that all the coins circulating in the market are legal and those refusing to accept it will face legal action.

Coming down hard on those circulating rumours on WhatsApp and social media websites, the RBI said that anybody found saying "no" to the currency will be charged with sedition.

The national bank clarified that all coins containing any of these symbols including Goddess Durga, parliament, Homi Bhabha, Mahatma and others are very much legal.

Clarifying further, the bank said symbols embed on coins differ as they are released on different occasions.

In a strict warning to people, RBI said the coins are valid and anyone refusing it is liable to face action under section 124A (sedition) of IPC.
